Lady E:

Part of the link that you supplied had compelling reasons as to why Sony II looks like such a great bet:

According to a study released by Ziff Davis at the gaming summit, which polled about 1,500 video gamers, the biggest percentage of gamers are looking forward to the new Playstation, compared to the other new gaming systems.

There was also talk at the conference of the Sony Playstation gaining on the personal computer in video gaming.

Michael Howse, a senior vice president of marketing for 3dfx Interactive Inc. (Nasdaq:TDFX - news), a graphics chip maker, prefaced his presentation saying he was representing the PC industry.

''Is the PC dead as a gaming platform? This is on the minds of many of us,'' Howse said, adding, however, that he does not believe this will happen.

However, some in the industry have been predicting that the stunning graphics and the high performance in the new Sony Playstation 2 will move both game developers and consequently, gamers, away from the personal computer to the Playstation.

''It sounds like a lot of them (developers) have their eye on the Playstation 2,'' said George Jones, editor-in-chief of Computer Gaming World.
