I got impatient with the slowness of response today, so I will develop the thought here: one of the biggest problems in writing is to figure out how to be lucid and to convey with some accuracy ideas and experiences which may be uncommon. Relying exclusively on terms that can be easily digested, one gets the "taste like chicken" syndrome. However, trying to come up with something of sufficient novelty and subtly to convey what is wanted merely leads to obscurity. The trick is to find ways of constructing models from the known that may resemble the "unknown", or to find a series of analogies, in the texture of which one may discern something of the reality....
