The EuroModem Short List of the manufacturers after the evaluation
After the studies of the received offers a short list is prepared by the EuroModem Consortium. The list was sent together with an in-depth analysis of the received offers to all members and CEOs of the EuroModem Consortium.
These are the companies in order after evaluation:

2.Com21
3.Hughes
4.Cocom
5.The Industree (Simac)
6.Netgame
7.DeltaKabel
8.ECI Telecom
9.Hirschmann
10.Kongsung

Nature and quantity of the goods to be supplied:
DVB-compliant cable-modem (EuroModem) system enabling supply of services ('Raw Internet' service, on the one hand, and for the so-called 'timing- critical' services, e.g. voice telephony, video conferencing etc., on the other hand) to existing and new cable-based customers.

The EuroModem system shall be capable of operating in conjunction with the existing infrastructure of cable networks and multimedia systems being presently used European cable networks.

The EuroModem system shall be able to fit into infrastructures of cable TV networks and multimedia systems supporting (i) digital broadcast TV and radio, and (ii) broadcast, multicast and interactive on-demand multimedia/ telecommunication services.

The EuroModem system must comply with (i) ECCA EuroModem specification version 1.0, (ii) ETS 300 800, (iii) EN 50083, and (iv) DVB specifications where applicable.

The total number of EuroModems to be requested by the above-mentioned companies are expected all together to be between 250,000 and 500,000 within the duration of the contract.

The system requirements are described in brief below:
The EuroModem must support the required functions/services as described within the EuroModem specification version 1.0. Tenders must indicate if they comply on required and recommended functions/services.

Time limit for delivery, completion and duration of contract:
A minimum of 200 EuroModems is requested for delivery as soon as possible for testing purposes. EuroModems are requested for delivery over the period 1 September 1999 until 31 December 2000 with a minimum of 20,000 EuroModems to be delivered initially, i.e. no later than 1 December 1999.
