The health of the US economy is a mirage. Brokers of all kinds make money, workers at Hi tech and internut'z make money and the US attorneys. In NYC Real estate transactions are flipped as they were in 1987 many even flip the contract for $25K to $100 gain and all get the financing. That about all. Most others are not doing so well.

It all started with the refi and low interest rates. Housing values almost doubled since 1990 and that is the greatest asset in any average household.

WS and Banks securitizing the mortgages and insurance and pension funds eager to be fully vested created a mirage by accepting inflated dwelling prices.

Productivity growth is a myth to. The real productivity growth is now flat. Inflation is above the reported numbers and the economy shows sings of slowing down. (Oh gee forgot to mention that a 486 PC is much cheaper than in 1990)
