Professor,
This information is interesting and raises a lot of questions in my mind about the future direction of the PC business.

What makes these chips different from other CPU chips? What keeps a computer company from using the powerful game chips for standard PCs and servers? Is it possible to run Windows or other operating systems on these CPUs?

I think Windows is designed to run on specific chips with the x86 architecture being the primary architecture supported by Microsoft. I do know that UNIX runs on the 64 bit Alpha chip currently owned by Compaq. Windows doesn't have a 64 bit program as I understand it, but I think the 32 bit program runs on it.

Sorry to have so many questions. I have a ton more but I thought it would be crude to ask for an education on a discussion board. Perhaps you could point me in the right direction to find some answers.
