Joe, the U.K. always seems to have the news before we get it here in the Colonies (e.g. The Register). If you have a link from a few weeks back, I would love to read it.

Regarding your 1/4" thick TV, I met a man in 1972 who was busy lining up suppliers for just such an animal. His biggest problem was getting someone to make blue LEDs and there was no technology for wiring them in a sufficiently tight pattern. It was a great idea but ahead of its time. Mistubishi and others have since solved the problems but it costs so much that they don't sell very many (Bill Gates probably has a 10-footer in his video room but the rest of us will have to wait until they put them on sale).

SNDK patents cover "fundemental" aspects of flash memory. Rather than argue about them in court, Toshiba obviously gave up the ghost and decided to give a piece of the action to SNDK. Who, in turn, decided that profits were better than legal fees. A nice deal all around (I wish I knew the details!)

The thing that totally ticks me is that, over time, I cashed in 75% of my original SNDK shares. They will have to pry those remaining shares from my cold, dead hands.

Craig
