Originally designed for in-house use, the module is ideal for use as a daughterboard or as part of a modular system. The board has been designed to allow programming of its Flash memory using a standard device programmer and is tolerant of 12V programming algorithms. Four opcodes are loaded from memory in parallel, which helps to alleviate the normal memory 'bottleneck'. Many of the opcodes correspond directly with Forth words (functions) and thus Forth is a very good fit for this processor. The dual stacks are augmented by an array of general purpose registers, intelligent shifter, memory management unit and a separate on-chip I/O processor.
