HCL Info Net jumps 123%

The turnover of HCL Infosystems Ltd for the year ended June 1999 increased 35% to Rs9.50bn from Rs6.99bn. Its profit after tax rose 123% to Rs585.2mn compared to Rs261.3mn over a year.

"The board of directors has recommended a 25 percent dividend," a company statement said. According to Ajai Chowdhary president and chief executive officer of HCL Infosystems, "The company's performance in 1998-99 is built on strong fundamentals wherein we have identified and oriented the business towards key growth areas. Electronic commerce has emerged as a key growth area and we are well-positioned to harvest the potential of this huge
opportunity."
