I agree, especially at a good school like Rice. But I don't know CW's abilities. I think 15 hours of college is a difficult curriculum for most, and 18 is punishing. Once he figures out how to ace classes, it gets easier.

CobaltBlue's fail-safe technique for acing classes, learned the really hard way after flunking out a couple of times:

1. Go to every class. Do not ever skip a class.

2. Take copious notes, and I mean exhaustive. Write down everything the professor says.

3. Ingratiate yourself to the professor by sitting towards the front (not front row, that's for obvious suck-ups), never being late, asking intelligent questions, and laughing appreciatively, but not robotically, at his jokes.

4. Read everything assigned, on schedule, as assigned. Take copious notes on everything assigned.

5. Transcribe all notes prior to a test. If possible, transcribe all notes two or three times. This is essential, because it burns it into memory. This is the sine qua non to replicate CobaltBlue's success, and I guarantee that it works.

6. On tests, tell the professor exactly what he told you, as word-for-word as possible.

7. Do not try to think for yourself or change anything. Just regurgitate.

I swear, this is what it takes to get A's. I graduated with a 3.66.
