After the discussions on this list about cheap wines, I think I found one that bears can afford, given the current market, that isn't too bad.

Purely in the interests of scientific research, I was looking at the cheap wines at the store today. Next to the infamous (and nasty!) Thunderbird they had 750 ml bottles of Wild Irish Rose. Both Thunderbird and Wild Irish Rose were the same price, $2.99 a bottle, but the label said that Thunderbird was 17.5% alcohol, while Wild Irish Rose was 18% alcohol, which is about 50% more alcohol than a typical wine like a Merlot.

So, I bought a bottle of the Wild Irish Rose. It didn't smell awful, and the taste is not nasty, although it is very sweet. I have had a glass, and I am waiting to see if it gives me a nasty headache before deciding to have more.
