Kemble:
It is just funny... My Sister and Brother started out buying stocks conservatively. I went for Dell. My Dad loves to tell people how Dell has done and what a smart investment I have made. I just think it was the grace of God, as all of my wise decisions have been by the grace of God... Dad is now on the Dell team, with my Uncle, my Dry Cleaner, my friend, Allyson, and my client, Howard. It is great. I have my own little Dell team...I check on them and make sure they are hanging in there... I told my Dry Cleaner to hold on. He has been really jumpy, but he stuck with Dell. Even the guy who owns the Valet service in the office building where I work has bought Dell. And my friend, Allyson, who is like my little sister, made the same investment. Her Dad loves to tell people about her too... I helped her decide where to go to College, when I worked at her high school. She went to UT Law School (her Sister went to Stanford) and she has friends at Dell. She is my Dell buddy and we both have conservative, wise fathers.
And, now my Dad has gotten into other Tech stocks too. My Mom even bought some CMGI. I have learned so much from my Dad. I never thought I would be giving him advice, right at the prime of his life.
It is a major role reversal, because he has taught me most of what I know about investing. And, his patience is so much stronger than mine... My Dad is a very wise man.
Dell has been a success story for me so far... and I hope to see it continue to grow. You are the one written up in the Magazines. You were wise long before most of us were. But, I don't think it is too late to wake up and smell the Starbucks.
