I believe this merger is only a preparation for a larger deal. Look at UUNT/MFS only to be taken out by WCOM. Look for 3Com or Lucent to take this pair out 12 months from now. These companies are probably already talking. Even if no later take out occurrs, still looks like plenty of synergies and savings here. Customer base is overlapping, compelling product offerings end-to-end from edge of the network up to WAN switch. Short-term who knows, but if you hold on for the ride it should be rewarding.
