This is good news.
Of course, it was sniffed out last night. A couple of points: First, the new software allows the elimination of passwords, but it isn't clear from the release what configuration does that. It likely is the smart card version that allows for no passwords. If 2.0 can work without passwords across the board, that is a pretty major advance. Second, not nearly all of 2.0 versions have been released, including the server version, which is what you would expect to see as the primary form used by OEMs. Last, there's no mention of the DFR-300, even though Fowler said they would be able to come out at the same time. Probably we'll see it when the rest of 2.0 arrives.
Anyhow, we are finally getting to where we want to be. Let's see if the market reacts.
PS -- The airline cargo worker drug bust was the lead story in this morning's Washington Post. I say Miami gets the FAA security next, and soon, since the US Attorney there is quoted as saying that in the "age of domestic terrorism the current situation at [the airport] is intolerable." |
