Globe says DataMirror stock flies high

DataMirror Corp DMC
Shares issued 10,360,060 1999-08-25 close $6
Thursday Aug 26 1999
The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, Aug. 26, edition that DataMirror's stock rocketed 21 per cent yesterday after its second-quarter results showed its software business is recovering from the past year's revenue slump. The Globe's Tyler Hamilton writes that DataMirror's shares advanced $1.05 to $6 on the Toronto Stock Exchange, following the announcement that revenue had climbed about 20 per cent from the previous year's quarter to $10.1-million. Much of that growth came from sales to new customers, who made up about 75 per cent of the firm's $7.1-million in software licence revenue. Analysts say DataMirror's ability to attract new customers, mixed with some major internal restructuring has put the firm on more stable ground. DataMirror -- which makes software that shifts information between databases and incompatible operating systems -- has gone through some unsettling times since warning on Feb. 2 that its year-end earnings would miss expectations, largely because of customer contract delays related to a Year 2000 spending slowdown.
