Ian, CSCO calls on everyone. All major carriers are looking at IP only networks, in addition to IP+ATM networks. One doesn't preclude the other. For QOS type services, ATM is a necessity. For pure IP, like generic internet service, IP routers still dominate.

The Cerent box, apparently, can seemlessly groom all these traffic types for presentation to the Sonet transport layer.

Given that CSCO has never before done a deal like this for a start-up, I'd say they know full well what the future of this product is.
