Pav - some folks over on my bottom trash thread seem to think that is you short a stock that you never have to cover ( re - my question form the other day) that the gains are tax exempt.

Subject 26675

I have responded that even if you do not cover and you wait the year and then the Broker releases the funds and you realize the gain that you are indded taxable on that gain.

WE are talking Canada and I did a fair amount of research on what is taxleble as income versus cap gains etc.

do you have any info on this one????
