ESI Announces Capacitor Production Equipment Order From Samsung Electro-Mechanics in Excess of $2 Million
August 26, 1999 10:30 AM PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Electro Scientific Industries, Inc. ESIO announced today a multiple unit capacitor production equipment order from Samsung Electro Mechanics totaling over $2 million. The order is scheduled to ship by the end of ESI's second quarter which ends November 30, 1999, to Samsung's facilities in Korea. "We selected ESI based on the company's proven ability to provide high-quality, leading-edge technology for our needs," said J.K. Kim, executive managing director, Samsung multi-layer and thin film division. "The 3320 and 328 systems will enable us to cost-effectively move to volume production of these very small parts."
"We are pleased to continue our relationship with Samsung," said Robert Belter, president of ESI's Electronic Component Systems. "Our flagship MicroSort and MicroTerm products will enable them to produce the smallest multi-layer ceramic capacitors on the market today."
The order features ESI's 3320 MicroSort component testing systems and 328 MicroTerm termination systems, both designed to handle 0201 parts. The 3320 MicroSort System features a new rotary drive mechanism, allowing for smooth motion profiles, minimal backlash and positional accuracy, which are all critical in handling and sorting 0201's reliably. The system also offers throughput of up to 80,000 parts per hour and can be easily converted to handle 0402 and 0603 sizes. ESI's 328 MicroTerm System features throughput of up to 120,000 parts per hour, as well as a color vision system which aids in the alignment of the components for improved accuracy.
Statements in this press release may include forward looking statements that involve a number of risks and uncertainties that could cause actual results to materially differ, either better or worse, from those discussed.
