Stephen,

I believe the MER/NITE deal is very significant for NITE outside of the mere clearing of existing order flow. Read very carefully the comment from KP regarding international order flow: ``Particularly attractive for Knight are Merrill Lynch's multiple product lines and vast international network, attributes that will greatly benefit our efforts to diversify our revenue stream by expanding into the options and international securities markets. As OLBs were to NITE's early growth, so will international order flow (and options) be to NITE's next stage of development.

Merrill is a very big player in the international market. Pasternak sees significant potential in that untapped (for NITE) market. And he specifically states, in his press release, that the relationship with MER carries with it the potential for international order flow.

In the meantime, analysts are still revising 3Q down (thank you, easier target to meet). Merrill just came down 5 cents on its 1999 target, from $1.65 to $1.60.
