fumble, I stated a few posts back that major carriers have both networks deployed.

ATM where QoS is important, and can be sold.
And pure IP, where QoS is not important.

To think ATM is the end all, is not looking at the real world.

BTW, the Cerent box, carries all traffic types, from ATM to IP to FR, and provides the groomming necessary to place this data on Sonet and SDH networks. Its not intended to be either an IP or ATM switch.
