Unless you're a client of the IPO underwriters, you'll probably have to buy after the stock opens for trading (at a price which could be different from, and usually higher than, the offering price). MSIM is supposed to open sometime this week, although adverse market conditions can delay the timing.

Investing in IPO's after they open on the first day of trading has historically given below-average returns, however.

Molecular Simulations Inc. is a San Diego company that creates computer software used in rational drug design.
