"Given their error I told them emphatically that the cert must be delivered asap and the issue date must be indicative of my earlier request."

Lots of luck! I was told the same thing-ie the date on the cert when and if I finally get it will be back dated to the time Etrade got it-ie in July. However, I have been in touch with a gentlemen who has indeed received a cert from Etrade-and surprise the date is the middle of August! Hmm

Thread idiots? Hmm. The search for intelligence life is a difficult one. I have not found much on this thread so I decided to look elsewhere! I have been participating in the new SETI program-looking at radio telescope signals hoping to discover a signal from aliens. Goto this link:

setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu

Download the screensaver program. It works like this. They send you a block of data from a radio telescope in Puerto Rico. When your screensaver comes on-it processes the data. Takes about 24 hours of CPU time to process one chunk of data. Your computer then sends the block back to SETI and they send you another one. SETI now have some 1 million computer users around the world partipating in this.
I have completed 6 blocks of data now and the program did come up with a couple of interesting signals that were close(but not quite)matching the profile that they would expect from aliens. (They are looking at the "waterhole"region of the electromagnetic spectrum-the naturally quite spot in the spectrum between the H ion and the OH ion natural frequency-hence "waterhole".) Then they assume an actual extraterristal signal would only last 12 seconds as the telescope is fixed but the earth is moving-ie if the signal is longer than 12 seconds-signal is from earth-also should be a Gaussian curve. Of course then you have to assume that any alien sending a signal is located on a planet that is moving with respect to Earth causing a doppler shift-so you need to look at groupings of frequencies. Thus far-only one signal has matched all the criteria-the famous "WOW" signal detected at a radio telescope in Ohio back in 1977. Despite many attempts, they have not been able to find the signal again.....Cheers.
