Mike and Ali, I'm not going to get into yet another stupid argument over nothing. Yes, Intel raised the voltage by five hundreths to get to 600 MHz. AMD raised the voltage by two-tenths to get higher frequencies on the K6-x.

If it can be done, it will be done. That was my feeling before when AMD raised the voltage, and it's still my feeling now that Intel has done something similar. As long as the rate of returns due to defective parts don't go up a significant amount, it's fine.

Trying to second-guess the yields, bin-splits, and manufacturability of a CPU based on voltage hikes alone can lead to some pointless arguments. (Oh, wait, this is the AMD thread. Never mind.)
