. . . .Broadband Treasure Hunt. . . . .
Next week is traditionally one of the slowest of the year. . . so I don't expect we will see many more big days for the market as a whole in August. Remember to PROFITOFTEN.
Some of the outpacers should continue doing their thing. They have served us well in keeping our balances in the black. . . .today with the Dow down 134 and the Naz down 31. . . .the 'usual suspects' in the internet sector were losers. . . . but the outpacers have kept us from a loss.
HLIT, ADAP, ADFC, CMGI, T and like I said yesterday. . . .it was MMPT's turn today to take up the slack.
Instead of counting our gains tonight and this weekend. . .I would like to hear arguments that choose the top 1, 2 and 3 leaders in some sectors. . . .
Please cover just one sector at a time, and argue in depth. . covering earnings, market share, sales growth, competitive advantages, potential for takeover, etc.
xDSL / Last mile
Fibre Optics switching equipment
Fibre Optics backbone
Wireless Broadband / Last Mile
Set-top box makers
Bundled Telecom Service Providers
Miscellaneous Fibre Optics or Wireless Technical Support / Equipment
By choosing our clear leaders, we put an end to the endless suggestions of related stocks. . . .and by doing this, we can buy and hold with confidence. . . . we can of course make a change later. . . but it makes no sense to buy 200 stocks in hopes that one of them goes up. That is NOT the way to make money.
Our basket of "Technical broadband" stocks should have 20 names max. We still have "broadband content providers" to hold. . .but that isn't what we are discussing here.
Thanks,
