Thus striking terror to the core of a large ethnic minority! One of the notable impressions that I brought away from my visits in Malaysia was a significant bitterness towards the governmentally edicted special favoritism regarding the people of Bumi heritage. I heard it expressed a number of times in different places. I don't think a political showtrip is enough to overcome that level of resentment and may in fact result in a backlash.
