A proposal for a future Gorilla: Ballard Power Systems (BLDP). The technology is not yet commercial. So it is certainly early to anoint a Gorilla. But, (1) Fuel cell technology is certainly a discontinuous innovation, (2) Once the technology gets to the commercial stage, it will quickly enter the tornado stage, because (3) much of the value chain is already in place, with the numerous strategic partners Ballard already has in place, and, (4) Ballard has the lead in the technology.

There are steps to be taken, of course, and we probably have a couple of years wait ahead, but for those who like to try to anticipate future gorillas this one might be worth watching.

One attractive thing about this stock, from my viewpoint, is that it is not a communications/internet/semiconductor play. My CDMA-related holdings are making my car tip over like Fred Flinstone's. Can we have some discontinuous innovation outside of Silicon Valley, please?!

Best,
JS

(PS--I know, the Q is in San Diego. Don't confuse me with the facts!)
