Microsoft products are not the champions in ease of use. They are the champions in power though. Think of how Hotmail quickly overcame the outlook portion of office. Ease of use overcame the complex but seldom used features of that particular office suite.

The company that beat MSFT will offer a superior value through easier access and lower costs, basically a better business model. MSFT has technical accomplishments in Office95 that most users have yet to discover, yet they are still building more into Office 97 and 2000 because thier revenue model (upgrade in lieu of subscription) demands it. Most people are not interest in the multi-threading capabilities of Words newest macro language and its compatibility to pure Visual Basic. Explain that to your average netizen.

Believe me, there are a lot of individual consumers waiting for a web-based office suite.
