Jim Your PRK sounds good but

I have yet to see any discussion about long term effects of the removal of the Bowman layer. I am an engineer, not a medically trained person and have read that the Bowman layer has no KNOWN purpose. It MAY be like the clavicle without which we can do, once grown up. But to me it is still a question.

LASIK preserves the Bowman layer, the "flap" is put back. So, why do they do that ?

Sure, it would be a more comfortable procedure to not cut the flap and may bring more customers. As you say, the FDA has approved PRK but that and the fact that they do it in Vancouver and Hawaii still doesn't answer the question.

Any literature or reports you can steer me to ?

Walter
