SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (Dow Jones)--Plantronics Inc. (PLT) expects its
second-quarter earnings will be slightly less than the 85 cents a share it
earned in the first quarter, but higher than the 74 cents a share it earned in
the year-ago second quarter.
A First Call survey of three analysts estimated that Plantronics will earn
89 cents a diluted share in its current second quarter ending Sept. 25.
In a press release Thursday, Plantronics said it expects revenue of about
$72 million in the second quarter. For the year-ago second quarter, the
company's revenue was $71.2 million.
For fiscal 2000, Plantronics anticipates earnings of $3.55 to $3.70 a share
on revenue of $300 million to $305 million.
Plantronics was expected to earn $3.79 a diluted share by a survey of three
First Call analysts.
The company earned $54.2 million, or $2.96 a diluted share - including a $1
