BBC Monitoring International Reports: Sudan Shipment Of 600,000 Barrels Of Oil For Export To Leave Port Next Week
Khartoum, 25th August: The secretary-general of the Ministry of Energy and Mining, Hasan Muhammad Ali al-Tawm, said the marketing of the Sudanese oil would be carried out by a multinational company known as Trafigura.
Responding to a question by the Sudan News Agency (Suna), Tawm said both the Sudanese government and the companies involved in the production of the Sudanese oil have agreed upon the said company, which has some 31 offices around the world, and that Trafigura was chosen from between several international companies that brought their bids for the project .
Tawm has, meanwhile, pointed out that the oil tanker that will carry the first shipment of the Sudanese oil will be at Bashair seaport on Thursday [26th August] or early morning Friday [27th August]. He said the first shipment will consist of some 600,000 barrels and that the tanker would leave the port of Bashair on 30th August.
The secretary said new geological formation in north, central, east and west Sudan show the presence of petroleum, adding that these areas have been specified and given certain names.
