aye theres the rub.
My peers are polite because teachers generally are good robots who act like they have been trained to. But naturally I am not liked.
In addition I refuse to belong to the teachers associations, because the National Ed Assn 's goals are the communization of the students...and obviously those are not my goals.....
I have attempted to donate to my local association because I know that I profit from their negotiations efforts. (Not that I think I deserve raises, In Ca teachers are overpaid) but I like them and I use them so I would like to be helping to pay for negotiations. But the NEA has written me that unless I JOIN they do not want my money. So there we are. Obviously I cannot join an association whose goals I despise: luckily my district does not force the issue.
