HT,

There is a book I've read (true story, but story nonetheless) called F.I.A.S.C.O.

It's an insider's account of the investment banking business. This guy worked for First Boston and Morgan Stanley. Was involved in putting together some of the "exploding" derivatives that look like bonds business (like the Brady Bonds which Ecuador is about to default on). These instruments are sold to pension funds and municipalities and foreign governments (esp. Latin America and Japan) and they are actually not bonds at all but rather highly leveraged derivative products involving foreign exchange rates. Great read-- a real eye opener.

Matt
