Betty,

Regarding edig and Celestial...

You'd keep your music on your hard drive and download what you want to take with you onto your mini-player. This seems a simple solution for storing your music and taking just what you want to hear with you. I don't see a problem with re-using a flash card over and over as long as you can exchange the music on it and put it back onto the hard drive.

You are describing the current status of mp3 which requires no complicated software or hardware enhancements other than the security features the music industry believes are needed.

The only addition I would make to your description is that some teenagers actually use a CD burner for storage. And the biggest problems thus far is the fact that Diamond made the mistake of using SmartMedia and now everyone thinks flash memory cards are either too small or too expensive. Well, they still are expensive, but CF capacity is suitable for portable mp3 use and can be rewritten 10 million times.
