Robert and all - I called my broker, Waterhouse, and had my stock taken out of margin status and put in a cash status. It only takes 1 day and margin can be re-instated in the same time. I found out that Waterhouse uses a market maker named NITE whom I believe is involved in shorting Valence, but they will no longer have my shares in their supply. One can do this with any number of shares that are not supporting some other equity. Since Valence is no longer marginable in most houses, it would be prudent for those who now own their stock outright to journal it to a cash basis.
It doesn't matter who your broker is, as long as your stock is available, NITE or their friends can probably use it.

A simple phone call.
