I respectfully disagree. They are not spending their stock like drunken sailors, (see my previous post) and they have had an extremely accurate eye for value -- yes, even a golden touch.

They very much need to compete against TLAB, LU and Nortel long term. They are singlemindedly building the product portfolio to do so, much like they did in the networking business. I am long both TLAB and CSCO.

COMS (which I've also held and continue to do so despite their flawed moves) would be a better comparison to the drunken sailor, if you ask me. Ask the other CSCO networking biz competitors if CSCO's "arrogance" has been steel-nerved riverboat gambler instincts, or foolishness and I think you'll find they all wish they had been so arrogant.
