Scotty,

"Trader Vic" (Victor Sperandeo) who wrote a couple of books on principles of professional speculation has done several statistical studies on the DOW dating back to 1890s. The entire life of the index. If you contacted him he has every kind of statistical data you could ever imagine on the DOW. He is a huge proponent of Dow Theory.

Another source of that type of information (and probably the source that CNBC type guys use to sound "all knowing" is the Stock Market Almanac. I have no idea where to get one, but I would very much like to buy one if you can find it. Most of the big trading houses on the street have them on hand. I tried to fast talk my old brokerage out of one and he promised he would send one. "You can add that to the long list of things my broker promised but didn't deliver <g>"!

Matt
