hey g,

do you subscribe to the norton systemworks tips from tipworld.com?

here's a recent one that pertains to activeX stuff...

"INTERNET SWEEP MONITORS ACTIVEX CONTROL INSTALLATIONS IN THE BACKGROUND

Did you know that Web pages could install applets to your PC without
your knowledge? Not with Internet Sweep, a CleanSweep component that
tracks the installation of ActiveX controls on your system.

When you visit a Web page that uses ActiveX controls, Microsoft's
Internet Explorer checks to see if you have the needed control
installed on your PC. If not, it installs it in the background.

When Internet Sweep is active in your System Tray, it detects this,
wakes up, and monitors the installation, keeping a record of the
installed controls in a log file with an extension of .iil--as
distinguished from Smart Sweep's logs with the .cil extension.

The Internet Sweep icon in your System Tray begins flashing to alert
you when an ActiveX control is being installed to your PC."

:)
