Of course not all, but many are painfully aware yes, the ones that travel buy all sorts of stuff when they visit here. In Germany where I lived they are also VERY aware of the job security and vacation differential with their American counterparts... and some [more narrow minded ones] think the trade off Americans to get the cheap goods is ludicrous. Overall it is my experience that Germans generally are much more aware of America than we are of any European culture... your post reinforces my belief.

Of course not... but again, my experience in Germany [Frankfurt.. so more highly educated sample] is that people are aware of many of the issues causing the price differentials of many factors [including labor by the way] in the economy. I'll also say that a quick surf through the cable offerings show that Germans are much more aware of economics, politics, history, arts, and especially sciences in general than Americans... just my experience of course. Ask the other former or current European dwellers or Europeans what they think... until then I don't really care to hear your viewpoint on this subject since you are obviously not in that category.
