Trading volumes on the PCX/Optimark facility have plummeted roughly 80% since the system hit a monthly peak of almost 1 million shares a day in March, according to PCX statistics"
"PCX figures for July trading confirm further low levels this summer. According to PCX, the PCX/Optimark volume totaled 3,009,400 shares for the entire month, an average of just under 143,000 shares a day. And of that 143,000 daily average, an average of just under 44,000 shares a day were traded because of PCX/Optimark internal matches. Most of the rest were executed on the NYSE's SuperDot system." |
