Hmmmmm..........am I glad I didn't double up last week!

But is this a buying opportunity? Seems like PSDI's problems are consistent with what we have been hearing from a host of other software companies (Oracle, Computer Associates, Informix). All of these companies have reported slower than anticipated revenue growth, particularly in Europe. That would suggest that PSDI's problems are a reflection of industry/market conditions, rather than any underlying weakness in the firm. If so, this may be the time to get in. The primary question is whether things will get worse before they get better. I don't know the answer, but it seems to me that the European problems in particular may persist for a while (many EU countries are increasing interest rates in an attempt to get their economies in shape for the projected 1999 monetary union -- and that means depressed capital spending). Also, after six years of economic expansion in the US, the probability of a recession is increasing. So this suggests that the smart thing might be to wait for a while.

On the other hand, PSDI will probably exhibit a short term bounce from this level, so if you are a trader, there may be an opportunity here.

Good luck guys.
