<<Unless the OT lies>>

Sorta depends on whether you read it as actual history or allegory. Interpretation colors many of our thoughts.
Our brainwashing that the bible is God's word keeps many in the dark in this respect.

I think if you follow this thread you will find James is one of the few that tries to interpret without preconceived ideas of Aristotle's paradigm. He appears to me an honest searcher for the truth independent of others and tradition.

When reading Aesop no one believes it as history. Yet it teaches a child far better to live a good life than the Christian bible. The morals are clear to a child where aged men cannot agree on scripture in spite of the most brilliant thinkers of all ages. If we read the old testament as a fable it will demonstrate how we should live and the results of wrong living.

We are brainwashed that we need to pray constantly because we are sinners. I will maintain that a true pray-er has no need to voice a prayer daily because he lives a life of prayer.

We judge a cow by the amount of milk he gives and not how much hay he eats. IMHO we are judged by our actions and not what we profess to be.

The cosmic Christ or the Buddha can neither be exploded except in metaphysical terms. Paul's Christ was not the same as Peter's.
