TO ALL: Edwarda has recommended a great resource (a "reference desk"): refdesk.com Here is a page with references specifically tostyle/grammar resources. Some of them are already listed in other online guides we have in our Grammar Clubhouse, but there are quite a few additional ones. refdesk.com There is also a LOT of useful and detailed material about searching and comparative performance of various search engines. I was disappointed, however, to see that <www.google.com> -- the best search engine I personally have run across -- was not among them. A specific question for you, Edwarda: did you give Mata Hari a trial run? The site recommends (or rather, promotes) it as the ne plus ultra of all search engines, but -- you have to pay for it. However, you can use it for 15 days free of charge. Thanks again for the recommendation. Joan P.S. Edwarda, note that I gave the URL for the index page, rather than for the rather chatty home page. Problem is, that the woman (?) who runs the site seems to think that being the mother (?) of a certain person is a plus for her; some of us would be more likely to view it as a minus. <g>
