Is it possible that the 'analysts' for the Wall Street Investment houses don't really understand the implications of these type of announcements? If the answer is yes ... and I think it is, how does Novell (or Sun, or Borland, or IBM) get them to give credit for the value of these iniatives ... NetScape doesn't seem to have the same problem ... nor does Oracle ... ???!?!? these folks seem to be able to make fairy tales come true.

MSFT Networking products are fairy tales ... at least for the next year or so ... yet Investment Analysts seem to value them more highly than real products ... !!!??? ... I think NOVL's real problem is not technology or products, it's still a 'reputation problem' ... the Economist article is probably closer to the real issue for investors.

Here's hoping that Eric Schmidt can help make Novell's technology as popular as he made Java ... then the same folks that help make fairy tales come true will probably 'discover value in Novell'

I suggest to Novell Managment that they should consider 'selling concepts & ideas' to the analysts ... and 'educate' them at the same time. Getting the stock analysts onside will probably do more good for the company and it's senior managers than they realize ... get them the support (from investors at least) they need to develop and sell real products ... and stay ahead of the competition.
