On the subject of the Internet and what connection speed is needed to scalp or play 'fast' stocks. If I can 'ping' or trace-route the quote and order servers at 200-400 milliseconds, that implies that there is less than a one second lag in getting data.

Of course, that is probably a best case scenario, but can we assume that under 'normal' conditions, we are looking at a delay of less than 2 seconds vs. a direct Nasdaq feed? So that would mean a delay of 2-4 seconds total between the time you received a sell or buy signal via your quotes, and the time it took you to send your order and have it represented in the market.

I have not had the opportunity to test this directly, but I'm sure some of you have, with access to both types of feeds. Would appreciate your findings.
