That is the same thought most non-professionals have held every decade since the inception of the NYSE and the curb.

True. And many non-professionals who know their limitations and operate within them have done well. The ones who start thinking they know more than they do get fried, but that's hardly limited to the stock market. Some professionals who think very highly of themselves get fried too.

Do you think that eliminating the SEC would make successful investing easier, or fraud more difficult? Do you think that Wall Street was a better place before '33?
