A study based on the Top15 and Bottom15 parameters

I compute the number of stocks in the Top 15% and the bottom 15%
of the respective 52 week range. These numbers give the stock
distribution of a stock group with respect to the 52 week range,
and is a good indicator for the distribution of a stock group,
a Poisson distribution or a Gaussian distribution.

I'll use the S&P 500 stocks in this post, because the S&P 500
stocks represent about 70% of total market capitalization.

The data for the week of 7/12 and the last week are as follows:

No. of No. of
Stocks in Stocks in
Date Top 15% Bot 15%
---- --------- ---------

7/12 169 28
7/13 158 31
7/14 156 30
7/15 164 28
7/16 169 30

...

8/23 122 55
8/24 123 56
8/25 119 45
8/26 102 49
8/27 87 58

The data seemed to indicate that the stocks have moved closer to
their mean values. What will market do in the near future?
Probably sideways.
