This week the FCC is awarding chanels for Advanced television. the broadcast and cable industries are in their greatest peak of fear and confusion in 40 years. If SGI has a secret strategy and technologies ready for NAB next week, it would be great news. so far their own video solutions have been crap. but if they have a platform that solves the problem of multiple resolution output and imput (including HiDef) it would be a real big item. Not the insipid hoax that "interactive television" was, that exposed them as hypsters not too long ago. You can be shure that Compaq and IBM have something big in mind. the software technologies for managing this exist on the platform (Interactive Effect's Amazon) but the SGI inhouse folks don't want to hear it. vincent
