CLIFTON MINING COMPANY ANNOUNCES DRILL RESULTS CALGARY, April 2 /CNW/ - Clifton Mining Company (``Clifton'') announces that core hole No. TFS-1C has intersected the Thirty-Foot Shaft vein in a seven-foot section from 103' to 110'. This core hole confirms the existence of valuable minerals within the Shear Veins to a depth of 130' below the main Clifton tunnel. The seven-foot core section was assayed at an independent lab and averaged 9.9 oz./ton silver, .018 oz./ton gold and 8.84% lead, with the interval from 106' to 110' averaging 12.5 oz./ton silver, 0.018 oz./ton gold, and 13% lead. The average grades across the seven-foot width were better than anticipated, and provide a value of $145 (US) per ton at current silver, gold and lead prices. Total operating costs are estimated at $55 (US) per ton (Offering Memorandum 1/17/97). Clifton is continuing the Shear Zone core drilling program as planned. Further results will be released as they become available.
