Tech, the tax implications are always on my mind, too. When I sold some of my DELL earlier this year, part of it was selling the shares that were a bit underwater, figuring I could balance that tax loss with some other gains, so it wasn't so bad in the end. But I sure took note of LindyBill making so much $ by putting as much as he could in a KEOGH (our self-employment pension plan), and thus facing no tax consequences, and building a fortune much more quickly. It changed my ideas about KEOGHs, which formerly I thought were only useful to reduce what I'd have to pay in terms of tax dollars. Now I realize it's such a good tax shelter in a bull market. ANd your expeience trading in a retirement account is probably similar.
