Well, why not speak of your first-hand knowledge, Joan? JLA was good enough to answer your specific question directly. You often mention your other life in Academe -- what, where, when -- please. Forgive me if you've been over all of it before -- not everyone has been here from the start.
Like JLA, I could claim second hand knowledge -- in my case, through a son, son-in-law and two close life-long friends. There is also some knowledge gained as a parent with children in school. And -- don't forget -- we ALL have first-hand knowledge of Academe, from our experiences as students.
IMO, you dismiss JLA in EXACTLY the way you think you have been dismissed.
"Yawn." IMO, you become easily bored with topics when you care, but do not seem to prevail. I mean, who cares about "that," anyway?
I find your remarks on "political" matters insidiously "liberal" and if I might avoid too much argument on the true meaning of "liberal" -- I would expect we'd find you on the left side of the Crossfire set.
Please don't be insulted. I enjoy reading your contributions -- sometimes strongly agree with you -- sometimes strongly disagree. |
