I agree fully. We love to hate 'em but they do provide that balance that makes the market work....when they play by the rules and don't use manipulation to gain advantage. In fact, I understand MM's are allowed to short in order to keep orderly markets. Don't want the price to spike unnaturally or out of control just 'cause MM's are out of shares as it can swing just as fast the other way as the greedy sell fast to take their profits on the spike. Shorting, when used logically and not for abuse of a stock is vital to a strong and vital market...no question.
